Remembering what your kid wanted to be when they grow up at age 5 is hard. It’s even harder remembering their favorite movie or awesome catch in pee wee baseball. You can send yourself emails about all this, telling yourself you’ll one day collect them all, but you never do. Well, the new app called Kidstory can do even more.

Five years ago, founders of Kidstory, Caroline Paxton and Jennifer Irwin, had an idea to make a digital timeline to include hobbies, funny sayings, childhood firsts, artwork, fun videos and pictures documenting your child’s life. Jennifer and Caroline have been friends since college. They were always pushing and challenging each other to jump in and do things.

Jennifer Irwin says, “We only live once so why not go and try to create something that will make a difference?” They thought about how busy parents are and how they don’t have time to jot all this down and still spend time with their kids. So, they made an engaging app to keep all your conversations and memories about your kid in one place.

Not only does it make collecting it so much easier, it is really fun to go back and relive those moments. Jennifer Irwin says, “We didn’t do it for the money, we did it because there was a need and it needed to be filled.”

One of the best things about this app is that you can add things that happened years ago on your timeline. Most social apps are for the world to see your photos of big moments or vacations, things that you think are worth sharing with the world. But this app is private. It is just for families. It still allows sharing, but the idea is for it to be a small circle of grandparents, family members and closest friends.

Including family was important because these are fun milestones and moments that families want to share together. Kidstory lets them share and comment. Grandparents can congratulate your kids and tell them how much they love their art project.

Jennifer and Caroline hope to one day make a version for the pets too. It would be fun to keep track of their favorite toy or of what movie star your dog most resembles. But for now they’d like to focus on making Kidstory a success. Kidstory fills the need because this app tells a story, and every kid has a story.
